Jonathan concedes defeat, congratulates Buhari

With presidential election results
from all but one of Nigeria’s 36
states counted, and the candidate
of the All Progressives Congress,
Muhammadu Buhari, clearly in
unassailable lead, President
Goodluck Jonathan has
telephoned Mr. Buhari to concede
defeat.
The spokesperson of the APC, Lai
Mohammed, told reporters in
Abuja that President Jonathan has
conceded defeat.
He said the president called Mr.
Buhari to congratulate him on
wining the presidential election
held Saturday.
“The President called General
Buhari at 5: 05 pm this evening to
congratulate him for emerging
victorious,” Mr. Mohammed said.
He commended the president for
“that singular act”.
The Independent National
Electoral Commission is yet to
declare Mr. Buhari winner
because it is still expecting results
from Nigeria’s remote Borno
State.
By the time the Borno vote is
added to the tally, Mr. Buhari
would have garnered 15,416,221
votes. All of Mr. Mr. Jonathan’s
12,853, 162 votes have already
being counted.
Celebrations have broken across
Nigeria as news of Mr. Buhari’s
victory dribbles around the
nation.

Jonathan congratulates Buhari

President Goodluck Jonathan has congratulated APC
presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari on his
victory in the Saturday election.
In a telephone call at exactly 5:15pm to Buhari in Abuja,
Jonathan assured him of maximum cooperation and smooth
transition.

President Jonathan Felt Dissapointed By Obanikoro, Mimiko, Adams, Fani Kayode

Even the man who President Goodluck Jonathan just gave Billions of Naira contract could not deliver for him.
Apparently, many people, especially in the South-West, collected Jonathan’s money and still voted against him.
In the overall, all those Jonathan trusted to deliver for him have failed him.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs (2), Musliu Obanikoro failed to deliver his polling unit to Jonathan who had expected some electoral magic from Obanikoro.
Bode George and Jimi Agbaje also failed.
Also, in Ondo State, Governor Olusegun Mimiko, like Obanikoro, failed woefully to deliver his ward to the PDP
and the President. OPC militant leader, Gani Adams, also failed to deliver for Jonathan.
See the results from their wards and polling united below:
1. Obanikoro
Ikoyi Polling Unit
Presidential: APC 62; PDP 38
Senate: 58; 44
Reps: 56; 38
2. Mimiko
Presidential: APC 72; PDP 22
3. Gani Adams
Presidential: APC 115; PDP 45
4. Femi Fani-Kayode
Presidential: APC 127; PDP 45
5. Jimi Agbaje’s unit
Presidential: APC 126; PDP 60

Gbemisola Saraki defects to the APC

Former governor of Kwara State and the All Progressives Congress (APC) leader in the state yesterday spoke on the report of his sister, Gbemisola Saraki’s defection to the APC, saying a formal announcement would soon be made on it.
But all indications have pointed to her resignation from PDP as one of her famous aides and women leader of the party in the state, Hajia Nimota Ibrahim has already resigned from the PDP. Gbemi, who addressed her supporters when she arrived Ilorin on Friday, asked them to go out on Saturday with broom (symbol of APC) and “sweep their communities clean.”
Her defection from PDP was a fallout of her alleged marginalisation in the party where a section of the party is said not to be disposed to her membership. However, her brother with whom she fell out during the 2011 elections when he opposed her governorship ambition, spoke on the raging defection story yesterday during her interactive session with journalists.
Asked to comment on the rumoured defection, he stated that a formal announcement would be made on it in due course, adding that “things are definitely happening.”
Daily Trust reliably gathered that a public gathering is being planned by the APC where Gbemi would formally announce her return to the APC fold which would further put paid to the rumour of the frosty relationship between her and her brother who is the scion of the Olusola Saraki dynasty.
Gbemi Saraki, who is the first daughter of Second Republic Senate Leader and a governorship aspirant of the PDP on Friday asked her supporters to vote for APC during Saturday’s presidential election even though she had kept mum on her purported defection.

Kwankwaso, 4 other governors make Senate, 4 others crash

Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso
Five of the nine serving governors seeking to go to the Senate have scaled the hurdle defeating their closest rivals to clinch the seats in the respective districts.
Four others who equally ran could not achieve their ambition as they were defeated in the race.
Those that made it to the Senate are Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of Kano, Aliyu Magatakrada Wamakko of Sokoto, Jonah Jang of Plateau, Godswill Akapbio of Akwa Ibom and Theodore Orji of Abia State.
Those that crashed out are Mallam Isa Yuguda of Bauchi, Muazu Babangida Aliyu of Niger, Saidu Dakingari of Kebbi and Gabriel Suswam of Benue.
The number of governors that failed to make it is high considering the weight they pull in their states.
Most of those that were defeated lost to the clamour for change in some of the states while those that won have either the power of incumbency or the same factor of change going for them.
Others who have made it to the next Senate include former minister of aviation, Stella Oduah, former deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, Usman Bayero Nafada and former governors of Plateau and that of Gombe States, Joshua Dariye and Danjuma Goje.
About 11 governors had indicated interest in going to the Senate in their respective zones but some of them failed to clinch their party’s tickets.
They include Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta and Sullivan Chime of Enugu State.
Meanwhile, Senate President, David Mark will be returning to the upper chamber for the fifth time to represent Benue South Senatorial district.
Mark defeated APC candidate Daniel Onjeh..
In Kano, four-time Senator Bello Hayyatu Gwarzo (Kano North Senatorial District) couldn’t make it to the red chamber for the fifth time. He was defeated by APC’s Barau Jibril, a former House of Representatives.
In Bauchi, Deputy Senate Leader Senator Abdul Ahmed Ningi of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) lost his bid to return to the Senate as he was defeated by Isah Hamma Misau of the All Progressives Congress (APC)
In Kwara State, former Governor Bukola Saraki was re-elected for Kwara Central, while Senator Shaaba Lafiagi was also reelected for Kwara North. A current member of the House of Reps member representing Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun Rafiu Ibrahim was elected as Senator for Kwara South.

Confusion at INEC as PDP blocks continuation of announcement of result

There is confusion at the INEC collation centre in Abuja as agents of the Peoples Democratic Party have blocked the continuation of the declaration of results.
One of the agents is holding on to the microphone and insisting that Chairman Attahiru Jega must not continue the declaration of results.
“Prof Jega, you cannot continue, you cannot continue,” he barked at Mr. Jega as the INEC chairman made to move ahead with proceedings.

2015 Presidential Polls: Buhari leads Jonathan with 2 million votes

Inec has officially announced 19 of 37 states and FCT.

The results announced have been in sync with independently collated results as announced at the state level for most places.

As at the time of this report, only results from some Local govts in Edo, Yobe and Benue were not announced.

This is how the Total results are likely to go, since whatever comes out of Edo and Benue where APC may lose some of the ground gained is likely to be compensated by results from Yobe.

Muhammadu Buhari, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is on the verge of winning last Saturday’s presidential elections, according to official results released so far by collation centres of the Independent National Electoral Commission across Nigeria.

Although we still await official announcement of results by the INEC returning officials from some states on Tuesday, NigerianEye collated results already declared by INEC on Monday, and also retrieved more results from the local governments announced by INEC and added them up to come up with preliminary results combined from the local government areas.

As shown in the table above, the results already announced by INEC are in red, while the figures in black have not been officially announced by Prof Jega, but were announced at the state level.

According to the total of the results gathered by NE so far from the several local governments in Nigeria, Buhari's APC leads with 14,267,561 while Jonathan was able to gather 12,198,657.

Although official results released so far by INEC suggests that APC has gathered 8,255,585
while the PDP has gathered 6,338,321

In both the official and non-official results, Buhari leads Jonathan by about 2 millon votes, and is on his way to becoming the next Nigerian president.

Germanwings Airbus crashes in French Alps, 150 feared dead

Germanwings A320 plane
A passenger plane flying from Barcelona to Düsseldorf has crashed in a remote and mountainous area of southern France.

An Airbus operated by Lufthansa's Germanwings budget airline crashed in a remote snowy area of the French Alps on Tuesday and all 150 on board were feared dead.
French President Francois Hollande said he believed none of those on board the A320 had survived, while the head of Lufthansa spoke of a dark day for the German airline.
Germanwings confirmed its flight 4U9525 from Barcelona to Duesseldorf crashed in the French Alps with 144 passengers and six crew members on board.
Hollande said: "The conditions of the accident, which have not yet been clarified, lead us to think there are no survivors."
Officials said the plane issued a distress call at 0947 GMT (0547 ET), about 52 minutes after take-off.
Unofficial website tracking data suggested the aircraft made a sharp descent from its cruising height of 35,000 feet but that it did not appear to have plummeted as quickly as aircraft known to have lost complete control.
However, safety experts warned against reading too much into the third-party data, especially over remote areas, and said black boxes holding the probable answers to the crash were expected to be retrieved quickly.
The accident happened in an alpine region known for skiing, hiking and rafting, but which is hard for rescue services to reach. As helicopters and emergency vehicles assembled, the weather was reported to be closing in.
“There will be a lot of cloud cover this afternoon, with local storms, snow above 1,800 meters and relatively low clouds. That will not help the helicopters in their work,” an official from the local weather center told Reuters
Hollande said there were likely to be significant numbers of Germans on the flight. Spain's deputy prime minister said 45 passengers had Spanish names.
It was the first crash of a large passenger jet on French soil since the Concorde disaster just outside Paris nearly 15 years ago. The A320 is a workhorse of worldwide aviation fleets. They are the world’s most used passenger jets and have a good though not unblemished safety record.
"DARK DAY"
Lufthansa Chief Executive Carsten Spohr, who planned to go to the crash site, spoke of a "dark day" for the airline.
"We do not yet know what has happened to flight 4U9525. My deepest sympathy goes to the families and friends of our passengers and crew," Lufthansa said on Twitter, citing Spohr.
"If our fears are confirmed, this is a dark day for Lufthansa. We hope to find survivors," it said.
A spokesman for France's DGAC aviation authority said the airliner crashed near the town of Barcelonnette about 100 km (65 miles) north of the French Riviera city of Nice.
French and German accident investigators were heading for the crash site in Meolans-Revel, a remote and sparsely inhabited commune in the Alps.
German Transport Minister Alexander Dobrindt would also travel to the crash site, a ministry spokesman said.
Airbus said it was aware of reports of the crash.
"We are aware of the media reports," Airbus said on Twitter. "All efforts are now going towards assessing the situation. We will provide further information as soon as available."
Officials at Barcelona airport said the flight took off at 0855 GMT. Families of those on board the plane were gathering at a specially prepared building there.
The crashed A320 is 24 years old -- at the upper end of useful life of an aircraft in first-tier airlines -- and has been with the parent Lufthansa group since 1991, according to online database airfleets.net

SHOCKER: Femi Fani-Kayode's Gay brother Unveiled

This is the late Oluwarotimi (Rotimi) Adebiyi Wahab Fani-Kayode, the brother of Femi Fani-Kayode (born as David Oluwafemi Adewunmi Abdulateef Fani-Kayode) who happens to be the current megaphone of Oga Ade. His brother was a gay photographer/artist who died in a London hospital of a heart attack while recovering from an AIDS-related illness on 12 December 1989. At the time of his death, he was living in Brixton, London, with his life partner and collaborator Alex Hirst. Many Nigerians don't know about him but they will now know because there may be a very damaging documentary on Femi Fani-Kayode and his family to be released soon. If anyone should have kept shut, it should have been FFK but because of his mouth, now he will not allow his
brother to rest in peace.
